Summary
The Life Sciences Institute (LSI) is seeking an energized, team-player to join our facilities team which provides high-level fully on-site facilities and research services support for Mary Sue Coleman Hall. Facilities support includes dock management, coordination of facilities staff work priorities and triage, daily building area observations to identify and proactively triage building issues, response to building occupant inquiries and complaints, and initiation of work requests and ensure resolution. You will be responsible for paid on-call duties in coordination with the Building Manager. You will perform and support facility activities that are physical and require lifting, squatting and climbing. You will become a member of the LSI operations team and will report directly to the Building Manager.

Responsibilities*
- Identify, report and follow-up on facility related issues, including initiating work requests for building problems and responding to inquiries and complaints regarding services performed in the building
- Answer and respond to facility related issues within ticketing system
- Coordinate shared dock activities including the proper handling of incoming/outgoing packages and mail
- Assist in the planning, preparation and physical staging for events including scheduling rooms, furniture set-up and tear-down.
- Support research activities including checks of cold rooms and film processors to ensure they are working and maintained, and replenish laboratory paper towel and soap
- Assist with moves of lab equipment and lab changes, such as installation/removal of compressed gas cylinder restraints
- Help handle biohazardous waste and glass wash services
- Assist with U-M asset tagging to track equipment within building
- Participate in the team approach to completion of the annual U-M space survey
- Support C-Cure and Locknetic card reader systems for building and room access
- Participate in recycling efforts and education with building occupants
- Monitor, stock and order office and facilities supplies
- Partner and build relationships with U-M service departments such as maintenance, grounds, custodial, movers, construction services, environmental health safety and security
- Support MSCH Building Manager in the oversight, coordination, and successful completion of construction projects.
Required Qualifications*
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Customer service driven with a pleasant positive demeanor
- Minimum 1 year of experience with Google applications (email, calendar) and Microsoft products (Word, Excel)
- Minimum 2 years experience in facilities or dock support
- Minimum 1 year logistics experience including working knowledge of domestic and international shipping requirements
- Physical: Lift at least 30 pounds, stand/walk 80% of a workday, climb ladders, push/pull 50+ pounds of material on a cart, ability to work in multiple types of space including crawling and laying on the floor
- Ability to return to the building within one-hour when on-call
Desired Qualifications*
- Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and previous experience
- Minimum 1 year experience of facilities support experience in a research environment
- Minimum 1 year experience working in a shipping/receiving dock environment
- Prior experience with manual and power equipment
