Responsibilities*

The compensation analyst participates in high-visibility compensation programs from concept to delivery, including design and modeling, working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Develops compensation models to drive the right compensation outcomes for all Michigan Medicine employees. Conducts in-depth market analyses, salary offers, and equity analyses, and completes annual compensation surveys. Participates in professional development to maintain and grow compensation capabilities.

Required Qualifications*

EXPERIENCE:

Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary compensation principles and data analysis is necessary to be successful in this position.  Experience with job analysis and evaluation including quantitative (i.e., job-content, compensable factors, job-component, and point factor methodologies) or non-quantitative (ranking and classification) and market-based approaches is needed. Experience as a compensation technology early adopter is desirable, as is advanced experience with Excel and/or VBA, SPSS, or similar data analysis and business intelligence.

 

SENIOR & INTERMEDIATE LEVEL:

This position may be filled at the senior or intermediate level depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. The minimum experience required for the intermediate level is three (3) years of compensation experience. An advanced degree, quantitative college-level coursework and/or WorldatWork certifications may serve as a substitute for one (1) year of experience. 

At least five (5) years of progressive and direct compensation experience, or 3 years of experience with a relevant advanced degree or certified compensation professional (CCP) certification, is needed for the senior level.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
