Summary
The Print Copy Mail team has an exciting opportunity to employ a Desktop Publisher Senior to support fulfillment of Print Center services to university administrative and academic units. As a Desktop Publisher Senior, this individual is responsible for producing computer-generated print files for communication materials.
This position is a full-time appointment and will report to the Print Center Supervisor. This role requires someone who can work under limited supervision, proactively anticipate and resolve problems, has experience in a role providing excellent customer service, has the ability to execute routine procedures, and has the passion to exceed customer expectations.
Responsibilities*
PREPRESS & PRODUCTION SUPPORT (50 %)
- Manipulate text and graphics to accommodate a wide range of design specifications
- Import graphic images and integrate with text.
- Typeset a variety of items such as business cards, envelopes & letterhead, flyers, newsletters, brochures, manuals, etc.
- Prepare supplied files that will go to a Color Digital Printer or Black & White copier.
- Imposing print jobs using Prisma Command Work station.
- Prepare supplied files to print to a large format Poster Printer
- Preparing print jobs with Variable Data.
- Help team members with file manipulation as needed.
- Assist with creating interactive templates for new items, add/remove logos as needed, general maintenance.
- Ability to prioritize workload to meet customer deadlines.
- Participate in inventory control procedures and perform physical inventory of stock items.
- Clean assigned area of work and equipment.
CUSTOMER SERVICE & ORDER ENTRY RELATED DUTIES (50 %)
- Deliver all aspects of Customer Service & consultation with regard to incoming print jobs.
- Enter orders by creating Print Center tickets in Avanti.
- Deliver job estimates with established time frames.
- Coordinate with vendors on specialized products and finishing.
- Monitor all inventory and place orders for stock and supplies.
- Work with neighborhood IT to assist in trouble shooting issues with electronic submission of files.
- Learning USPS / Mail Services requirements as it pertains to printing.
- Direct orders for special order items, as needed.
Required Qualifications*
- 5-7 years of experience in position.
- Expert knowledge with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat Pro (PitStop Pro and FusionPro a plus).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft XL.
- Applies some advanced skills to the position within assigned functional area.
- May adapt procedures, processes and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of the position.
- Duties and tasks are frequently non-routine.
- Resolves most questions and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher levels.
- Works under minimal supervision.
