Summary

The Pharmacy Services Department is seeking an experienced business professional to join the team.  This role is responsible for supporting and developing pharmacy purchasing systems and technologies to provide informed decision-making processes for line item procurement, database management, and drug supply chain stability. This position will collaborate with the Pharmacy Analytics Team to establish analytical and technological tools to enhance the Pharmacy Buyer?s workflow, resulting in cost avoidance and optimal inventory management. Given the nature of this work, excellent Microsoft Office skills are required, along with a baseline understanding of programming languages.

The Pharmacy Services Department is seeking an experienced business professional to join the team.  This position reports to the Pharmacy Manager, Inventory & Automation. This role is responsible for supporting pharmacy automation systems through provision of analytics for informed decision-making and maintaining functionality to support the goals of the department and patient care needs. Excellent written and verbal skills are also required.

Responsibilities*

  • Maintain and support select pharmacy inventory systems within the Department of Pharmacy Services.
  • Make strategic inventory decisions to enhance pharmacy supply chain operations including, but not limited to, procurement, drug shortage management, and drug distribution modeling.
  • Partners with external vendors to refine solutions to fit the needs of the department and patient care activities throughout Michigan Medicine.
  • Works with colleagues from other departments (Willow, Analytics, etc) to develop interconnected solutions to support drug distribution activities throughout the Michigan Medicine enterprise.
  • Develops and creates presentations, reports, and dashboards for internal and external stake holders to support decision making, workflows, or complex customer needs.
  • Serves as a liaison and expert resource for pharmacy inventory tools used by Pharmacy Services throughout the Michigan Medicine enterprise.
  • Conducts spot checks to make sure that systems are functioning as expected and designed.
  • Mentors and teaches other staff (internal and external to the Department of Pharmacy), provides ongoing assistance to advance projects and ensure optimal use of the inventory solutions.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned by Pharmacy Supply Chain leadership.

This position will report to the pharmacist in charge of drug shortages and inventory management.

Required Qualifications*

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS INTERMEDIATE

Bachelor's degree in a related field.

3 years of supply chain, pharmacy, or data analysis experience.

Ability to independently manage multiple projects with competing priorities with organizational skills and flexibility to meet deadlines.

Ability to communicate clearly, both verbal and written to internal and external constituents and apply a high degree of analytical, interpretive, and evaluative skills dealing with complex concepts, projects, etc.

Self-motivated with an ability to work well with teams.

Demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Demonstrated ability to lead team members to accomplish a common goal.

Experienced use with standard office tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).

Possess or be able to obtain a Pharmacy Technician license with the State of Michigan

 

Desired Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's or Advanced degree in supply chain management.
  • Work experience in pharmacy supply chain management.
  • Supplemental (Minor) or advanced degree in Analytics, Public Health, Health Administration, Business, or Data Science.
  • Depth of experience and proven track record implementing and support pharmacy systems within healthcare organizations.
  • Advanced knowledge of Tableau and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience and credibility interacting with all levels of leadership.
  • Certification within BD Pyxis systems
