Summary

We are seeking an experienced undergraduate or recent college graduate who is energetic, enthusiastic, and enjoys collaborative and independent science. This position is to work on a project related to eye size disorders and seeks to establish the molecular mechanisms by which loss of a transcription factor (MYRF) leads to alterations in eye size.  The focus of the lab is on genetic disorders of the eye and uncovering the molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis using cell culture and mouse models.

Responsibilities*

Laboratory tasks include PCR, embryo dissection and processing, cutting paraffin sections, immunofluorescence staining, image analysis in ImageJ, genotyping of mice.  
 

Required Qualifications*

  • Experience with paraffin sectioning and immunofluorescence staining.
  • Must provide proof of current eligibility to work in the United States. 
  • Highly motivated responsible individual with excellent communication and organizational skills.   

Desired Qualifications*

  • Be enthusiastic and want to learn
  • Ask questions - whether you're not sure how to do something or just curious ask away!
  • Completed or enrolled in a Genetics Course is preferred
  • Completed or enrolled in a Molecular Biology Course is preferred
  • Lab experience with paraffin sectioning, immunostaining
  • Knowledge of ocular developmental biology
  • Ability to become independent over time
  • Must have basic word processing and computer skills, including Microsoft Excel. 
  • Must complete fully safety training for the in-person laboratory work.  

Background Screening
