Summary

Basic Function and Responsibility:

This 1.0 FTE position will control daily operations related to drug supply ordering, documentation, logistics, and communication with our 340B Contract Pharmacy partners.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will work with internal and external stakeholders to determine which drugs to order, order the supplies from our wholesalers, complete documentation, and coordinate logistics and timing of orders and shipments with our inventory teams and 340B Contract Pharmacy partners. They will also assist other 340B team members with oversight and analysis of 340B-related purchasing activity throughout University of Michigan Health, to identify issues and cost-saving opportunities. This position will be a hybrid remote/on-site model.

Core functions:

  • Generate reports from several 340B Third Party Administrator software systems
  • Analyze data and combine spreadsheets to determine which drugs to order
  • Communicate with internal inventory team and external stakeholders to ensure optimal order contents, timing, storage, and logistics of inbound and outbound orders
  • Update Virtual Inventories within Third Party Administrator software systems
  • Maintain inventory tracking documentation
  • Assist inventory team with physical handling of drug supply on predetermined schedule
  • Generate and analyze reports from wholesalers and Third Party Administrators to identify trends in purchasing activity across UM Health that might represent issues or opportunities for improvement in 340B capture

Required Qualifications*

  • Licensure as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan is required.
  • Experience in pharmacy purchasing.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven ability to effectively work with multiple stakeholders in a high-paced, dynamic environment.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience working in 340B, including completion of 340B University and/or Apexus Certified Expert training
  • Ideal candidate will be patient-centered, adaptable to change, innovative, and willing to take on tasks/responsibilities with autonomy and creativity as we are a growing program, and the working environment will continue to change.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
