We seek experienced candidates for a new Staff Trainer (Training Specialist Senior) to join a dynamic People Team. This role focuses on training programs that help staff develop their knowledge and capabilities. You will develop, administer, and deliver training strategies, programs, and products that help us enhance our culture of learning within LSA. The salary range for this role is $60K to $75K. A higher salary is possible for a well-qualified candidate.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will serve as a partner for managers and department staff, maintaining good relationships with these partners. In collaboration with subject matter experts and key stakeholders, this role will:

  • (20%) Work with leaders and staff to assess the knowledge, skills, and abilities our staff workforce needs to support the continued success of the college; develop learning objectives that are in direct alignment with the results from this needs assessment.
  • (45%) Develop, conduct, and evaluate training and other educational opportunities for LSA staff that enhance employee and management knowledge, skills, abilities, and career growth; determine when external partners may offer more effective opportunities.
  • (20%) Partner with the Chief People Officer, HR Director, DEI office, and key stakeholders to update a foundational training program for supervisors. Create programming, resources, and materials. Evaluate program effectiveness, including recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • (5%) Maintain records of training activities and employee progress and monitor effectiveness of programs.
  • (5%) Oversee ongoing promotion of and compliance with university mandated training programs (i.e., Clery Act, Sex and Gender Misconduct Prevention, Protection from Retaliation, and similar programs).
  • (5%) Network with providers in and outside the university to identify effective opportunities for LSA staff and managers to address gaps or redundancies in our training and development offerings.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in the field of education, instructional design, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate (in writing and verbally) clearly and succinctly to diverse audiences across a variety of settings, with specific attention to detail and proofreading.
  • Experience creating courses using eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate, and administrative experience in learning management systems such as Canvas or MyLinc.
  • Working knowledge of design software and photo/video editing software such as Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Spark, Final Cut, etc.).
  • Expertise in contributing to and supporting an environment that actively promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Experience with developing, integrating, and delivering trainings on various diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and wellness topics. 
  • Effective at managing time, assignments, and projects, including regular follow-up to keep stakeholders informed about progress.
  • Ability to develop and present data, including recommending different options and solutions.
  • Success in maintaining productive relationships with stakeholders, acting with them in mind, and meeting reasonable expectations and requirements.
  • Experience achieving meaningful results, including motivating self and others for results.
  • Ability to make good decisions based on inquiry, analysis, experience, and judgment.
