Responsibilities*
The Department of Recreational Services is seeking part-time student and non-student lifeguards to help create a safe environment in the Recreation Center pool. Shifts may be days or evenings, weekdays or weekends, depending on availability. Responsibilities include:
- Supervise pool area and warns swimmers of improper activities or danger.
- Administer first aid, rescue swimmers in distress, and administer CPR/AED, when necessary.
- Perform basic water tests to ensure pool chemicals are at appropriate levels.
- Enforcement of facility policies and pool regulations.
- Attend scheduled in-service training sessions.
Applicants should provide hours of availability in an attached resume. Work hours may include daytime, evenings and weekends.
Required Qualifications*
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or ability to obtain prior to start date
- Available to work during times pool is open; currently Monday - Friday, 11am - 7pm and/or Saturday, 9am - 1pm
Desired Qualifications*
- UM-Flint student with work study award for the current or upcoming academic year
- Previous lifeguarding experience
Background Screening
