Summary
The Goforth Lab is seeking to fill a Research Laboratory Specialist Associate in the Department of Pharmacology. Our laboratory combines in vivo and ex vivo measures of physiology to examine the neural control of metabolism and motivated behavior. As the selected candidate your will work fairly independently to carry out the following responsibilities:
- Conduct animal and laboratory experiments, collect and analyze data, and develop new and/or revised research methodologies
- Disseminate information to laboratory staff through data presentation and assist with abstract and manuscript preparation
- Oversee laboratory equipment and supplies
- Organize laboratory animal and supply purchasing
- Assist with the preparation of regulatory protocols and revisions
- Maintain administrative records related to regulatory protocols and purchases
- Provide general technical support and assist in day-to-day operations of the laboratory
- Assist in mentoring and training new undergraduate students

Required Qualifications*
- A Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of experience in a related field
- Prior research experience working in a neuroscience and/or behavioral laboratory and animal laboratory experience
- Experience with rodent stereotaxic injection and mouse handling procedures
- Experience with immunohistochemistry and microscopy
- Experience with laboratory management, including purchasing
