Summary

Provide expertise in clinical research support and coordination to assist initiatives offered by the Frankel Cardiovascular Center, in coordination with Michigan Medicine and our statewide network. Utilize considerable knowledge of research, education, principles, and practices to enhance and connect Frankel CVC departments across the institution and state. Manage a diverse range of assignments utilizing creativity to accomplish goals.

Responsibilities*

  • Expert resource for study teams recruiting patients for research within the Frankel CVC. Provide feasibility and develop formal study-specific recruitment plans for new clinical trials. Provide full recruitment services including identification, screening, templates for specific recruitment services and other tools to study teams. Connect study teams to resources throughout Michigan Medicine. Perform analysis at multiple time intervals to assess success of recruitment plan; make recommendations and adjustments for improvement.
  • Initial point of contact for patients interested in Frankel Cardiovascular Center clinical research opportunities and responsible for responding to all incoming volunteer phone calls and email inquiries from UMHealthResearch.org., Frankel CVC Call Center, [email protected], and toll-free recruiter phone number.
  • Liaison for Frankel CVC Research Teams, Referring Physicians, Frankel CVC clinics, and MICHR to effectively promote, improve and execute research initiatives.
  • Lead research specialist of Frankel CVC clinical trials and clinical research integration with statewide network including but not limited to the Cardiovascular Network of West Michigan.
  • Super user of MiChart, Emerse, umhealthresearch.org, Data Direct and other tools for screening and recruitment.
  • Manage maintenance of portfolio of all available Frankel CVC clinical research opportunities and recruitment IRB application and provide routine reporting for Frankel CVC Clinical Research activity.
  • Analyze data, create graphs, surveys, charts, write and disseminate standard reports.
  • Serve as Chair of the Cardiovascular Clinical Research Group (C3RG) Committee; maintain CME approval for C3RG seminar. 
  • Support and be cross trained to execute research administration events including Grand Rounds, annual symposia, and other ad hoc event needs.
  • In partnership with the Cardiovascular Research Network (CRN) Project coordinator, lead coordination and execution of Frankel CVC and C3RG presence at annual Researchpalooza event.
  • In partnership with R-CAP Program Manager (Research Coordinator Apprenticeship Program) provide administrative coordination for R-CAP program.
  • Manage scheduling and maintenance of Frankel CVC Research Cubicles.
  • Other research administration team duties, as required.

Supervision Received
Direct and functional supervision is received from the Frankel CVC Clinical Research Program Manager. Functional supervision is received from the Frankel CVC Research Administrator, and Chief Administrative Officer, as well as the Frankel CVC Directors.

Supervision Exercised
Functional supervision is exercised over research student temps, including coordination of work assignments.
 

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, communications, or science related field or learning related to the responsibilities of the position, or equivalent combination of education and training.
  • One (1) or more years experience in a healthcare or research setting with willingness to continue education regarding research on the job.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, showing sound judgment based upon experience, and the capability to work as part of a team in a professional and collaborative manner.
  • Proficiency or willingness to become proficient in utilizing Outlook, Teams, Canva, Google Tools and websites, EMERSE, OnCore, Zoom, and Data Direct is necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; including strong proof reading and grammar skills.    
  • Ability to multi-task, work well under time constraints and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstration of commitment to the Frankel CVC Core Values.
     

Desired Qualifications*

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience with research administration, including recruitment screening and clinical trials.  Thorough understanding of research regulations relating to recruitment, marketing, and screening for clinical research projects.
  • Experience utilizing MiChart, OnCore, eResearch and other institutional reporting tools.
  • Experience with graphic design.
  • Experience with event planning.  
  • Knowledge of University policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Clinical Trials Experience.
     

Additional Information

This is a hybrid in person and remote work position, with a minimum of three days on site.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
