Summary

The Genetic Risk Assessment with Mobile Mammography (GRAMM) project is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at increasing the uptake of genetic counseling and testing (GCT) services among at-risk Black patients through offering risk assessment at the time of screening mammogram. As a Study Recruiter for the GRAMM Project, you will be a crucial team member responsible for recruiting study participants. Your role will involve engaging with community members, conveying health information in an interesting and relatable manner, and ensuring that at-risk Black patients are informed about the benefits of GCT. You will primarily be stationed at the Mammography Mobile Unit at the Ypsilanti Health Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan but may also spend one day per week at the Hamilton Clinic in Flint, Michigan.

Responsibilities*

Recruitment and Engagement:

  • Actively engage, screen, and recruit study participants at participating sites.
  • Approach women in person or on the phone, giving study overview while being sensitive to the environment and patients involved.
  • Attain an in-depth understanding of study protocol and objectives to assist with the successful implementation of all study procedures.
  • Collaborate with medical staff at study sites to facilitate and optimize the care of research patients.
  • Facilitate communication between clinic staff and study surveyors.
  • Engage with community members, build rapport, and effectively communicate the importance of GCT and the GRAMM Project.
  • Reports on recruitment, testing, data, and projects during team meetings

Information Dissemination:

  • Approach women in person, giving study overview while being sensitive to the environment and patients involved.
  • Provide information about the project, answer questions, and address concerns of potential participants.
  • Explain the study thoroughly, review the informed consent document, answer questions, and obtain consent.
  • Tracking and communication for questionnaire and study related follow up

Data Collection and Study Reporting:

  • Attend and participate in meetings with the study team to discuss subject enrollment and issues as well as study progress. Participate in protocol initiation and monitoring visits by study sponsors.
  • Producing weekly update reports on the project for internal review
  • Collect essential participant information for the research project utilizing a software tool.
  • Review consent forms with eligible study participants.
  • Responsible for data, collection, entry, and management for study
  • Review collected data and performed data quality assurance of the collected data with the study monitor and statistician(s)
  • Create reports on the completeness and quality of the collected data
  • Data cleaning and analysis
  • Attend and participate in meetings with the study team to discuss subject enrollment and issues as well as study progress. Participate in protocol initiation and monitoring visits by study sponsors.
  • Assist with preparing tables, charts, and graphs and editing manuscripts/presentations/sponsor reports
  • Creates agenda for meetings and takes meeting minutes.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelors degree with a background in public health, community research, health education, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is necessary.
  • A strong interest in addressing health disparities and improving healthcare access.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and the ability to engage with diverse community members.
  • Enthusiasm for conveying health information in an interesting and relatable way.
  • Motivated, self-driven, and dedicated to the project's goals.
  • Reliable transportation to travel between clinical and study sites in Ypsilanti and Flint
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to be flexible in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work in a team, as well as independently.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrate the ability to work successfully while meeting competing deadlines.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master's degree
  • Previous experience in womens health
  • Two or more years of research experience
  • Previous experience with womens health research
  • Previous experience with survey research
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Previous experience with MiChart
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite

Work Schedule

?        This is a 30 hour a week position for 1 year-term. (with possible extension to 1.5 years) Working day will be between M-Th, with occasional weekend hours for recruitment at events; general hours are within the 7 am- 4 pm range.

Work Locations

?         Most of the work will be performed at the Mobile Mammography Unit at the Ypsilanti Health Center in Ypsilanti (approximately 90% or 3-4 days a week). The other portion of time will be spent at the Hamilton Clinic in Flint, Michigan, or remote work for meetings.
