Responsibilities*

Responsibilities

?       Provides direct and individualized nursing care to internal medicine, pediatric, and OB/GYN patients and their family under the direction of a registered nurse.

?       Provide nursing care according to the established institutional and unit policies.

?       Observe patient status, report and document changes and nursing care given.

?       Administer and document medications according to established standards.

?       Initiate appropriate measures in emergency situations.

?       Instruct patients and families according to a teaching plan established by a Registered Nurse.

?       Participate in unit staff meetings for problem-solving, planning and improvement of patient care.

?       Assist in quality assurance activities.

?       Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas including prescription refills and durable medical equipment.

?       To work at the maximum level of license, education and scope of practice.

?       Other duties as assigned which could include but not limited to wound care, suture staple removal, results reporting, blood pressure checks, injections, and specimen collection.

?       Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to build respectful relationships within and between units and individuals.

?       Demonstrated accountability and dependability including a good attendance record with punctuality.

?       Demonstrated adaptability to changing needs and priorities based on unit, department, and institutional goals/objectives.

 

?       Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation.

?       Ability to manage complex clinical issues utilizing  protocols, and evidence-based interventions.

?       Willingness to adapt to different populations ie: pediatrics, OB/GYN, adult medicine as patient demands. Orientation and training would be provided for new subspecialties within primary care based on expansion of division.

Required Qualifications*

?       Graduation from an approved school for practical nursing is necessary.

?       Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Michigan is necessary.

Desired Qualifications*

?       Ambulatory Clinic LPN experience      

Work Schedule

Hours/Week: 40 hours/week

Shift/Hours/Days: Day Shift; Mon-Fri (hours are variable, due to patient needs and volume demands including weekends and holidays).

Location: Canton Health Center with potential to work in other locations with expansion of division.

Hours may be variable (nontraditional) based on clinic needs.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
